Ken's Review

Food: B Mass Ave Pub's food is pretty typical from a bar-food standpoint. Appetizers include the usuals like potato skins, cheese sticks, onion rings, etc. The do have a decent selection of burgers, and do offer a pretty good pizza. Overall the menu isn't anything to write home or get too excited about, but the food isn't really a requirement to have a great time here.

Drinks: A- Mass Ave Pub usually has a varied selection of imports on special, and on tap to choose from. There are the usual domestics like Bud Light, Coors Light, and Miller Lite, but overall the import selection is where it's at. You can usually find at least one or two imports that you have never heard of and/or never really see anywhere else. There's also mixed drinks available for those who are more into that than beer.

Entertainment: B Those who have been there know that Mass Ave Pub is pretty small. Entertainment ranges about as far out as a Golden Tee Golf machine and jukebox. There is a bar-top video game system for a late-night touch screen game of Strip Poker or Adult Picture Match. Again, this place is more for hanging out with friends and having good times over some beers. Granted, the game of Golden Tee between Zach and myself has been known to happen.

Atmosphere: B The atmosphere can be really good, or so-so, depending on if someone gets a hold of the jukebox. The music can be kind of loud, and the seating is not plentiful, but when the jukebox is off, it is a nice place to be socially. Not to say that you won't enjoy your time with music going, but you do have to up your voice a couple notches when you talk. It is a relatively small place, but not to the point you feel uncomfortable at all when you are there.

Overall: B+ I personally enjoy Mass Ave Pub every so often, and especially during the week. The weekend nights are nice after a night at the Murat or dinner at Chatham, but can be a little crowded depending on when you go in and what is going on. For those who like to mix it up in their bar scene, this one comes highly recommended. It may not become your first choice all the time, but for a night of good beer and good times, this is a great place to make that happen.
