Review of Grain Belt Premium Beer

This past Saturday I took part in a tailgate with some friends at the Purdue football game. The group had met for years at this tailgate, and one of their big things is that they drink, let us say, an eclectic variety of beer. Grain Belt Premium was the first one I was given when we arrived at the meeting place. See what I thought about this Minnesota classic.
Ken's Review
Taste: B+ Grain Belt was more decent than I expected it to be. The taste is pretty clean at first, then settles in with a little beer bite to it, but it isn't dominating. I expected, given the somewhat antique looking exterior that it was going to be somewhere in the vicinity of absolute swill, but surprisingly this was a really good beer that I had a few of.
Packaging: B Grain Belt has a pretty simple packaging. A big red stripe has the word "Premium" in giant handwritten letters. And the "Grain Belt" sits on the trademark red diamond on top of a picture of a bottle cap. Overall it is pretty simple, which follows the taste of the beer.
Value: ?? I didn't pay for any of the ones I drank, and I'm not sure exactly what this stuff costs. If I find that information out I'll edit this. If I had to venture a guess, it couldn't (and shouldn't) be too expensive.
Drunkeness: C+ Grain Belt comes in at a modest 4.6%. I got buzzed on the first one, but I hadn't had anything to eat since dinner the night before and had finished drinking from the night before only about 10 hours prior to having this one. You won't get from sober to buzzing in any less than a few of these.
Overall: B The Grain Belt Premium isn't the best beer I've ever had, but it holds its own. I wouldn't run to buy this very often only because there are ones I like a lot better, but when it's free and at least drinkable, you can't complain too much. If you have the chance to try it, grab some. And as a side note, if you do a search on YouTube for Grain Belt you can watch some really entertaining commercial clips for this beer.
