Review of Samuel Adams Octoberfest Beer
Posted By Ken Sunday, 21 September 2008 18:45
I had posted this review once already, but it was lost in the last hack on this site (which, by the way, has been cleared up and should not happen again). So I'm here to re-post it, as this is the season for the Octoberfest beers. This is one of my favorite times of year for weather and beer, so read more and see how Samuel Adams stacked up with their Octoberfest.
Ken's Review
Taste: A I love everything I've ever tried from Samuel Adams, and Octoberfest has kept the streak alive. It will give you a hit of beer taste when it first touches your tongue, then settles into a nice spice-filled taste as it goes down. Sam Adams did a great job of blending just the right amount of spices to really give you the feeling of the season.
Packaging: A Nothing really to say as far as their packaging goes. Octoberfest is much like their other beers' packaging, with the exception that the labels are trimmed out in dark orange, which is obviously appropriate.
Value: B+ Octoberfest runs around the same price as any other sixer of Sam Adams, which is between $7.99 and $8.99. This is more than a fair price for the quality of taste you get, and the alcohol content it brings along with it.
Drunkeness: A- Octoberfest comes in at a rockin' 5.4% alcohol content. It's not overly heavy, but it's enough to really get you in a festive spirit after a few of them. I don't know I would care to get sick on any Octoberfest, so drink it in moderation for sure. It will, however, get you feeling good with less consumption which can be a good thing.
Overall: A- Sam has done it again, and kept my liking of their beers going with Octoberfest. It is unfortunate that Sam seasonals are around for a short time, but they come around at the right time to go with the season. It makes beers like Octoberfest much more enjoyable when you can consume them during a certain time of year. This stuff won't last long, so definitely grab some and try it before it is too late.
