Last night I attended the 30th birthday party of our newest review Jason, and our boss was on the scene with some choice selections from his fridge that he decided he would bring because he knew I would at least try them. The first one was Sprecher Oktoberfest, which I was very interested to try. I don't recall having anything from them before, but had heard good things, and I had to this point yet to try an Oktoberfest from anyone I did not like. Read on to see if this one stacks up or not.

Ken's Review

Taste: B+ Sprecher Oktoberfest is a relatively smooth Oktoberfest. The initial taste you get has some spiciness to it, with pumpkin spice coming out a little further to the front than the others. Aftertaste doesn't last long, and is very clean. An overall well-rounded Oktoberfest.

Packaging: B+ Sprecher Oktoberfest has a sort of mideval feel to the label. The words "Sprecher" in red at the top, and "Oktoberfest" in white at the bottom are complimented by the shield with two swords in the center to give a mideval look to the packaging. Also under the word "Sprecher" it says "Fire Brewed". I like it!

Value: B This 16 ouncer I got was free, but some resarch tells me that you can purchase a 4 pack of the 16 oz bottles for somewhere in the vicinity of $8 to $10, which is not anything to complain about given the taste.

Drunkeness: B This Oktoberfest comes in at 6.0%, which is a little in the middle on content in comparison to other Oktoberfests. I was already buzzed pretty well before having this so if it added effects I didn't really get that, but I'm sure you could put away the 4 pack and be having a really good time.

Overall: B+ I had no real complaints on this one. I have had a few other Oktoberfests that I would probably say I preferred over this one, but still this one held up to the hype. Last night was a chilly night which helped compliment partaking in this, and made the evening seem like I was in October enjoying this. Don't know that I would want this on a hot summer night, but when fall comes around again this year I will definitely keep my eyes open for some of this.
