Thanks to my friend Geoff's dad, I had the chance to try this at Geoff's house last night. I had it once before at his house but it was mixed in with some other beers so I didn't really remember it accurately enough to write a review. Since there were still a few hanging around in the fridge last night at a party I decided to crack another one open and commit the taste to memory. Being a big fan of the original Pabst Blue Ribbon, read on to see how this one stacks up.

Ken's Review

Taste: C- Pabst Blue Ribbon Light really disappoints in this area. Maybe not surprisingly, it is like pouring a glass of the original PBR and then adding a cup of water to it. The taste is really lacking and has little to no depth that its big brother offers. I am not sure what you would get out of this taste-wise that would make you want to buy it.

Packaging: C Nothing real special here. The only difference in packaging between this and PBR is that there is a "Light" added to the can. The one that I had was in all light blue (unlike the picture; I could not find a picture in the style I had), which was a little odd considering the red, white, and blue that PBR has. But even with the one that I have pictured, there isn't anything to really write home about on the packaging.

Value: A PBR and PBR Light are notoriously cheap, which is a definite plus if you are low on cash or want to stretch your dollars to the max. Between the two choices, I would fork down the money for the regular over Light, but if you are looking to put more insurance down that you are going to have to work for a buzz, then go with the Light.

Drunkeness: D Pabst Blue Ribbon Light is one of the most pitiful in this area I have ever had. While PRB comes in at only 4.7%, this one comes in at a pansy 4%. While this means you can down more before getting the same effects as most beers, it only makes sense in my opinion to get the regular PBR so you can have at least some more taste to what you are drinking for cheap.

Overall: C I am not sure at all why you would go for the Light over regular Pabst Blue Ribbon. Unless you are just a fan of watered-down beer, or not a fan of the "strenght" of regular PBR, this one is only really worthwhile if you were in a situation like mine and you can get some of it for free. But if there are other choices in alcoholic beverages anywhere in the vicinity of Pabst Blue Ribbon Light, don't hesitate to move away from this one for something else.
