Review of Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA

This was actually the first beer that I had in Chicago this past weekend, at a great bar called Beckett's, which a Bar Review will be done for later. As much as I hate to admit this, I do not recall ever having anything made by Dogfish Head before this. I know, that is kind of a sin or something, but I was never in a place, party, situation, etc where Dogfish was available. So, read on to see what I thought about my first experience with this very well-known brewer.
Ken's Review
Taste: A- Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA was a very pleasant experience. I used to not dig IPA beers so much, but over the past year have really started to appreciate and enjoy them more, and the 60 Minute is no exception. There is just the right little kick of hops when it settles on your tongue without being overwhelming. The aftertaste leaves a nice remnant of the citrus on your tongue that doesn't last too long, encouraging you to drink more of it. Overall, I was really impressed here.
Packaging: B The packaging on 60 Minute is pretty basic, with the trademark Dogfish Head logo on the top of the label with "The continually hopped India Pale Ale" underneath. Nothing overly dramatic or fancy about the packaging, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It kind of lets you make up your own mind about the beer without trying to use fancy graphics or details before you try it.
Value: B I did have this on pint draft for $5.50, which is a little pricey in my opinion, but that's more the bar's fault than the beer. A sixer of this stuff will run you in the $11 to $13 range, so it isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for with this one. If you want something with some kick to it, it is well worth the extra coin.
Drunkeness: A- Dogfish 60 Minute comes in at a solid 6.0% alcohol content, making for some extra kick in this arena as well. I'm sure after finishing a sixer of this stuff you will be pretty well rocked off your ass, and depending on your tolerance either having a really good time, or refunding what you put down. I hope it is the former.
Overall: A- I can say I am definitely a fan of Dogfish Head after this experience. With the hop process that goes into making this and the 90- and 120-Minute siblings, it is understandable why this costs a little more, but it is made well worth it in the taste you get from it. I love beers like these because these are the ones that have made me a fan of the IPA world, and this one definitely runs very high on my list of favorites now.
