Review of Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen Amber

Yeah, I know it's February and a really odd time to post a review of an Oktoberfest, but this was a second offering thanks to my friend's dad last Sunday. While this is a few months out of season, Paulaner Oktoberfest is one of those that keeps its flavor for awhile so I think the assessment of this one should not be hindered too much, if at all, by the delay in getting to try it. It has also been changed from a seasonal to a year-round beer. This one has been dubbed the #1 Oktoberfest bier in the world. Read on to see if I agree with that statement or not.
Ken's Review
Taste: A- Paulaner Oktoberfest is probably hands-down one of the best (if not the best) Oktoberfest I have ever had. This one has a very nice balance of hops and spiciness that even in February gives the feeling of being in October and enjoying this on a cool fall evening. There is just enough after taste to leave a little crispiness of the spice on your tongue and overall starts and finishes clean. I haven't tasted enough of the plethora of Oktoberfest beers to say that this is #1 in the world, but it is pretty damn good.
Packaging: B+ The top of the bottle says Since 1632, with the Paulaner Munchen symbol in between. The "highlight" of the packaging is probably the large women in white dresses walking with steins hanging from a holder around their neck. Pretty oktoberfesty, and a little comical, so I like the packaging on this one.
Value: ? Not too sure in this area since it was picked up by someone else and I didn't pay to try it. So I won't really venture a guess here.
Drunkeness: B+ Paulaner Oktoberfest comes in at 5.8%, which is pretty well within the range of Oktoberfest beers. I was already kind of buzzed from the other beers I tried before this one, and this one definitely added a nice layer to that buzziness. Yes, I know that isn't a word. If you like a smooth little stronger content Oktoberfest, this is a definite good choice.
Overall: A- I definitely can't complain on this one. Being a fan of Oktoberfest beers, I thought this one definitely ranked at the top of those I have had to date. And it's great that this is made year-round so you don't have to wait until Oktoberfest to enjoy it. If you like this style of beers, do not miss out on trying this one. You will not be disappointed.
