Review of Founders Breakfast Stout

Well, it's raining outside, so what better thing to do while listening to it out my open window then to bring you the second review from our beers tried at the Hoosier Beer Geek Breakfast a couple weekends back? This was my first experience with a Breakfast Stout (sad to say), but read on and see if my first experience with the Founders choice was a success, or breakfast failure.
Ken's Review
Taste: A- Yep, I was a fan. The Founders Breakfast Stout has a really nice, strong coffee taste to it backed up with dark chocolate. It is an oatmeal stout, but I didn't really get much of any oatmeal taste out of mine. Absolutely a great choice to enjoy with breakfast, or to enjoy as a social drink, in my opinion. Can't say really anything bad about this one.
Packaging: A- The packaging here is pretty good. A baby eating oatmeal out of a bowl with Founders on it. Love it, love it, love it. I don't know why. But I do.
Value: A This was included in the breakfast, but after doing some research it appears this will run you around $11 or so in a 4-pack. A little on the pricey side? Not really, when you think about it. For the type of beer and the alcohol content you get with it, this is actually really fair. Sure, if you don't dig breakfast stouts, coffee stouts, or oatmeal stouts, you may not see it as being worth it. But if you do, then you know this is not a bad deal.
Drunkeness: A You'll know breakfast is served on this one. Coming in at a big 8.3%, you aren't going to be missing anything in this area. Unless, of course, you are enjoying this as I did with a nice big plate of steak, eggs, and frites. Then you may not get the effect as much, but drinking this on its own will definitely wake you up in the morning before possibly making you sleepy drunk again.
Overall: A This was a definite highlight of the morning for me. And it also was a great introduction to the world of breakfast stouts. If you like a good coffee/chocolate flavor, this one is sure to not disappoint, and I highly recommend giving this stuff a whirl, because it will definitely return the favor.
