He'Brew Rejewvenator (Year of the Date) 2009Ok, I'm finally getting around to posting more reviews from the Hoosier Beer Geek breakfast. Finding time to get this done has been kind of tough lately, but right now I'm waiting on my parents to show up, so what else am I gonna do? This is the first He'Brew beer I've ever had, which is kind of sad, I know, but I just haven't taken the time to purchase any of their beers to sampling. This is a limited release beer, so I'm not going to try to use this as a gauge of my first experience with them, as that would be kind of unfair. Read on and see what I thought about the "Year of the Date".

Ken's Review

Taste: C+ I can't say that I totally dug the He'Brew Rejewvenator. I'm not an overly big fan of dark fruits like dates and figs, so that could have contributed. The taste doesn't take long after hitting your tongue to grab on with the fruity taste, as well as a background hint of chocolate. The feeling of this beer is almost kind of like a bubbly champagne, but that didn't really help me to personally enjoy it any more.

Packaging: B+ The packaging is kind of wild. The front label is plastered in green, with a grassy "09" in the background. Rejewvenator runs across the top diagonally with "Harvest to Harvest Ale" underneath. He'Brew and "The Chosen One" runs across the center in a sort of banner. "Est. 5757/1996" is below that. Then "Year of the Date" near the bottom with a date bunch in the center. A lot going on here, but for a limited release, why not?

Value: ? Not too sure in this area since it is a limited release and was part of the breakfast. So I won't really venture a guess here.

Drunkeness: A- Rejewvenator Year of the Date comes in at 7.8%, which is a good jumpstart to your morning for sure. Can't say that based on my opinion of the taste that I would ever get to a point of getting drunk on this stuff, but the small amount I had in combination with everything else that morning definitely rose my B.A.L. quite a bit.

Overall: B- I can't say I hated this stuff, but I can't say I was a huge fan. It was good to try out once, but I doubt I would ever go back, not that the opportunity would present itself with this limited release. I'm interested to try the 2010 when it comes out and see what Year Of that one has. It was good for what it was, but I can't really say a lot on the plus side about this one.
