Review of Fat Tire Amber Ale

Here is another beer that I tried while Zach and I were in Las Vegas this week. It caught my attention because it was one I had never seen before, and part of the plan during the Vegas trip was to try some beverages that we had not had. Fat Tire Amber Ale was an interesting choice. Read why....
Ken's Review
Taste: B The taste of Fat Tire Amber starts off really well, giving a smooth and crisp amber taste. The downfall is the time after the first 1.2 seconds it is in your mouth. This beer doesn't turn nasty or anything unbearable. The good starting taste quickly fades into a sort of bland aftertaste in your mouth. If the original taste you get from the beginning of each swig lasted longer, this would have received higher marks in this area.
Packaging: A Can't complain in this area. The bottle is a dark color and the label is red with a picture of a bicycle on the front sitting by a tree. The thing I like about this beer's label is that it gives you some background as to how the Fat Tire beverages came to be.
Value: B- I can't say for sure how much this stuff costs in a sixer, but I bought a single bottle of this in Vegas for $2.29. While not outrageously priced, I don't feel that this beer deserves to cost that much. The most I would have, in hindsight, happily paid for this is $1.50. The aftertaste is what really keeps me from believing what I paid was a good value.
Drunkeness: B- Drunkeness is probably not a huge concern on this beer. The label rates it at 5.2%, which isn't too hateful if you plan on spending some money to get drunk. Lightweights may do okay with just a few of these, but this is definitely not for the hardcore drinker.
Overall: B This is another beer I have to say is worth at least a try, but only if you don't pay too much to do it. I'd like to be able to speak more highly of this beer, but (and I hate to keep harping on this) the short-lasting taste keeps me from doing so. I shouldn't be so hung up on it, but for some reason I just expected more out of this beer.
