Zodiac Black Cherry Vodka BottleSo, finally, I get off my ass and do another review! Who would have thought that when I finally get back in the game, it would be a review of liquor?

I have had this vodka a few times and downed a couple over the weekend, so I figured this would be as good as anything. Besides, our selection of liquor reviews sucks balls, so we need to get something in that area! I first found Zodiac at a random tasting when I was in a liquor store looking for something for a weekend trip away. After trying this for free, I thought it was worth a shot to buy.

After the break, see if I love or hate this newcomer to the vodka game.

Taste: A This stuff has a pretty damn good taste when you first take it down. It has a nice hint of cherry, with a decent, but not overpowering alcohol burn on the back end. Honestly, this is the first time I've had this vodka without a mixer. While it is decent with ice partially melted, it really kicks some ass when you add 7-Up. A black cherry 7-Up with a kick, bitches!

Packaging: A+ Zodiac is really kicking some ass when it comes to packaging. It is a black bottle with giant sun surrounded by the signs of the Zodiac. ZODIAC and BLACK CHERRY appear right below in nice lettering. Then, it really shines with an etching of sorts based on which sign bottle you bought. The one I had was Capricorn as that is my Birthday. It is great overall, including a description of the sign on the back. One other touch I like is the non-screw top cap. Higher end manufacturers seem to have this more often and I like it! Whomever is in Marketing at Zodiac decided they weren't going to be anyone's bitch when it comes to packaging.

Value: B One area where some people won't like Zodiac is the price tag. The two times I've bought it, it has come in somewhere in the upper-20s. For those who appreciate vodka, you won't mind the extra price tag for the quality of the drink as well as the extras in the packaging.

Drunkeness: B+ The only reason this doesn't get higher is because it is 70 proof or 35%, which is a bit lower than some other vodkas like Smirnoff 100 or some other cheap shit. But, you know what, if all I want to do is get fucked up on liquor, I'm sure as hell not going to spend 30 bucks doing it. So, I can't give it an A, but wanted to add some context to this rating.

Overall: A I've really become a fan of Zodiac after having it a few times. I'd say it is my go-to of the moment when looking for some quality vodka drinks. From the guy at the liquor store, I learned this is a newer product on the market from Idaho made using potatoes. I'd say these potato farmers are doing a damn fine job growing spuds for us drunks!
