So this past Saturday night I tried pulling off a malt liquor trifecta that I should have never attempted, especially after as many Coor's Light drafts I had had prior (which I don't know a total of, for sure).  To those who were, unfortunately, there to witness what happens when you mix that much beer and malt liquor, my sincerest apologies.  But here is my review of Old English 800, which is the one of the three I most vivdly remember, as it was the first in the trifecta that I tried.  Enjoy!

Taste: B  O.E. 800 was surprising in its taste, however it was not as impressive a surprise as the Magnum had been.  The 800 went down smooth and had only a very faint aftertaste, which I appreciate.  I got about half way into this one before moving on in the lineup for the evening, but even by then the taste had yet to really go south.  So no need to be afraid here.

Packaging: C  The packaging of O.E. 800 doesn't really make sense to me.  Perhaps there is some history or story behind the barely-gold can with a red "Old English : 800 :" symbol on it that I have never heard, and fortunately never been so bored with my life to try to look up.  If you want to play this from a marketing standpoint, it really is a dull looking can and doesn't really entice you on a subconcious level to buy it.  But I guess after you have already been drinking, and you are building an alcohol review website, marketing doesn't really mean squat.

Value: B-  Value on this one is not too bad.  I actually got a tall boy 22oz. of this one, and not a 40.  I don't think I can recall seeing this in a 40 ouncer.  Anyway, this stuff was around $1.79, if I remember right.  For a tall boy of malt liquor I don't find this to be a very good deal.  If this had been a 40 for that price, then we'd be talking.  But for the quality of taste I don't think it warrants being more than a buck.

Drunkeness: B  This is the touchy subject considering what happened that night when I tried it.  I can see this stuff getting you drunk, but not without some effort.  You would definitely need to be in a state like I was prior to trying it, or make sure you had a few on hand to really head towards a state of bad shape.  All in all, it does make a very nice enhancer if you are looking to get drunk even quicker off a beer or other alcoholic beverage.

Overall: B-    This one just cannot get too high of an overall mark, simply from the standpoint that the taste - while smooth - wasn't really anything worth getting excited over.  The price was a little too high for the quality (or lack thereof).  And all it really does for you drunkeness-wise is help raise you a couple levels if you are already drinking.  It's worth going out and giving it a try, but I wouldn't have an expectation of this becoming a regular drink of choice.
