Review of Kick Axe Malt Liquor

I know that I'm going to hear about it from Zach for trying a malt without him (I'm sorry). Last night I was at a party of a friend, and down the street from where he lives is this great liquor store that has several more obscure malts. This was one I picked up last night, already pretty lit and thinking once again that adding a malt to my drinking list for the night would not be a problem. Overall, I guess it wasn't, but read on to see if it was a good idea to purchase at all or not.
Ken's Review
Taste: C- Kick Axe fails in the taste arena, but does not do some completely. While the taste has some fruity hints to it, and was eerily reminiscent of Jaguar High Gravity, it was not anywhere near the worst stuff I've ever had. So that's why I didn't completely slam this one in the taste department. I don't know that I want to get this again to drink, but there are others I could put against it that would make this an easy choice in comparison.
Packaging: B Kick Axe has a pretty basic can, with the words Kick Axe in words that look like they were handwritten on, and Malt Liquor underneath. It is a plain black can with some red designs that wrap around part of it. This packaging doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but since this comes from a brewer that makes some pretty low-grade stuff, I guess you can kind of take packaging with a grain of salt.
Value: A If you want a really cheap way to get blitzed, Kick Axe is for you. A 16 ounce can of this, with tax, cost me $1 even. Factor in the alcohol content of this stuff, and you are all set if for some reason you just want to get an immediate buzz or stupor going and ride the night out on it. If you are on hard times financially, this stuff has you covered pretty well.
Drunkeness: A- Kick Axe kicks in at an 8.3% alcohol content, which is crazy for a can that costs a buck. As I said under Value, if you want to get lit up quickly for cheap, this is a great option. I personally would not want the repercussions of attempting too much of this stuff, and hope I'm never that desperate for a cheap buzz.
Overall: B I can't believe that I'm giving a malt liquor like this one this high of an overall score. But honestly, while I didn't really like it all that much in taste, it really isn't as bad as I expected it to be. I actually took down several swigs of this stuff before dumping it, which is a rarity for me unless it is one that I really enjoy. So, is it worth a try? Absolutely. Is it one you will frequent more than once? Probably not.
