I gave up beer this month before my marathon, sigh. (7 more beer free days) So anyway- I was very happy to review a new red wine. All for you- drinkersworld drinkers. So I started wandering the wines of the Australia aisle of Kahn’s trying to find a decent and affordable wine. I came across this bottle STRAIT JACKET; it fit my mood. This particular wine hails from Western Australia… the Burch Family Wines to be exact.

Strait Jacket- Shiraz, 2005
AROMA: B. Not much other than the ‘alcohol/wine’ smell. But wait- maybe a hint of cherries/cranberries? TASTE: B+ Since this is a shiraz, you should expect a little pepper. This one is subtle, with more of a fruity start (I taste a mixture of plums and cherrie) and a peppery finish. Tickles the nose a bit at the end. Very smooth finish. LABEL: A. Definitely a unique label. I love the doodle aspect of it and really to be honest, that is why I chose this bottle! VALUE: A-. I purchased this wine for $14.99 at Kahns. Sadly this is a semi-splurge for me at the moment, but pretty worth it. DRUNKENESS: A. 14.5% per volume. Drinkable therefore drunkable. OVERALL: A-. Good purchase. I bet this even better with food- but why wait for food? Cheers! Last update: 01-10-2010 21:44
